On the lunar surface, leave no trace here
Yet all is trace in this place here
A beach strewn with relics, salt encased here
Mummies and treasures, life misplaced here
A million things one cannot replace here
Heat and salt meet face to face here
The thirsty stumbled upon a base here
Praying for rain on her lunar face here
And I, daughter out of place here
Pace and practice for outer space here
Isabelle Ghabash grew up along the eastern shoreline of ancient Lake Bonneville. Her childhood home faced Great Salt Lake and she remembers feeding the seagulls who often visited her neighborhood.
